As at March 2009 (and for some time now), this is pretty much the most important element to ranking YOUR keyword in Google. We can also call this off-page SEO.

Yup, that’s it. If you sell staplers, then to have the best chance of an organic ranking on the first page of Google, YOU need sites (and preferably relevant sites) that link to your site with the keyword “staplers” in their anchor text.

But hold your horses, cowboys. This doesn’t mean you should go and trade links with every link-whore on the planet in an effort to get those links.

You want one-way, relevant links. And you certainly don’t want a to be building tonnes of spammy link pages on your site

SEO “Search Engine Optimization” is ways to make you website rank higher in search engines natural results. Not the ones that say sponsored links or something like that. You have to pay for those, but why pay if you can get to the top for free and stay there reaping the benefits of a expensive pay per click campaign for free. There are many thing you can do to improve your websites rank. The most important to me is just make sure your website is useful to it’s intended audience and make sure it functions properly. Throughout my blog I cover many aspects of SEO as well as feature articles from other Optimizers that I find useful.
